It is a classic franchise, but I feel like it gets too much hype for what it is. It might be personal preference but I’d take Iron Man 1 over SW Episode 1 any day. The last 3 SW movies are nothing compared to the last three MCU movies
I agree that Iron Man is one of the greatest movies of all time. But that's just one movie. There's 38 movies in the MCU now. 38! There's only 12 movies in the Star Wars universe right now, but the first 3 (episodes 4,5,6) are legendary. They were revolutionary for the time and the practical effects still hold up to this day! Episodes 1,2, and 3 which came out in the early 2000's, while not well received initially, ended up becoming cult favorites since then. I don't think Marvel movies will ever age the same way.
Damn, that’s a good comeback. You hit the nail on the head w that. I think you are mainly right. I feel like is SW had better episodes 7-9, they would have cemented themselves as the GOAT movies franchise. The only issue is those movies did not land at all - ask any SW nerd. On the other hand, Marvel’s Infinity War and Endgame were the culmination of a meticulously planned sequence of events that initially appear unrelated to the movie watcher. So many iconic scenes and memes as a result of those two last movies that truly took a full decade to develop. The end scene credits queued up the next movies effortlessly and engaged the movie watcher. All in all, you are 100% right that SW a cult classic, but from a pure cinematic and storyline experience, Marvel is unmatched.
